The ACFJC has volunteer opportunities for people age 18 (high school senior) and older. We are actively seeking volunteers in the following areas:

Clerical Support
This is an administrative support position and may include Front Desk reception coverage. (Spanish-speaking preferred but not necessary.)
Client Intake Support
We are looking for volunteers to work with our Client Navigators to provide client intake and follow-up. (Spanish-speaking preferred but not necessary.)
College Internship
ACFJC supports students looking for college internships. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator to check for openings.
Computer Training
ACFJC has partnered with Get Connected Oakland! to provide basic computer training that helps people bridge the digital divide. We are looking for volunteers to be trained to present the Get Connected Oakland! curriculum, as well as computer training on Word, Excel, etc.
Data Entry
ACFJC relies on grants which includes being able to provide up-to-the minute reporting. Please consider this volunteer opportunity if you enjoy data entry and statistical reporting.
Hospitality Services
ACFJC Hospitality Volunteer will help greet clients, escort them within the building, and help clients use the computers while they wait for their appointments.
Interfaith Chaplaincy Program
Our Chaplaincy Program seeks volunteers from all faiths to provide support to our clients and staff. Dr. Rev. Cheryl Elliott is our current on-site Chaplain and would enjoy working with others who are interested in working with a diverse client population.
KidZone Children's Program
Volunteer activities include playing with kids, arts and crafts, and providing storytelling, just to name a few.
MFTI Counseling Program
MFT interns will provide immediate crisis counseling to victims. You will be supervised by a licensed MFT therapist and will receive two-hours of weekly group supervision. (NOT ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME - PROGRAM CREATION IN PROGRESS.)
Special Events
We are looking for volunteers to support special events. Please check with staff to inquire about upcoming events.
So now that you have decided to become a volunteer or intern with the ACFJC, what do you do now?
Important information regarding College Internships:
It is extremely important that you inquire about interning with the ACFJC three to four weeks prior to the internship start date as determined by your school. All interested interns must follow the steps above so please plan accordingly.
