Wednesday Meetings

August 6th

Come eat lunch, learn through others, and take a break with fellow heroes! We have a great agenda in place with: Cross Trainers: Kristen Washburn from Bay Area Legal Aid who will review the BALA referral process and provide info about BALA's increased hours and schedule at the ACFJC, and Rev. Cheryl Elliot who will review, together with me, the newly developed ACFJC Chaplaincy Program protocol and policies to ensure a safe, victim-centered, non-directive, interfaith, and culturally responsive spiritual care program for survivors.

If time permits, I will also briefly review and handout the newly created ACFJC Outcomes & Achievements To Date Report.

In addition, and as always, birthdays will be acknowledged and appreciated and all partners may make use of the Team meeting to make any needed program announcements regarding upcoming trainings, meetings, openings, and/or scheduled changes.

See you next Wednesday!

Nadia Lockyer, Esq.

New Group: Women Together: Healing Our Lives

We are good, beautiful, strong and holy!
Join us for this class where we, as women, will gather in a safe, sacred sister circle to listen to and affirm each other's life stories.
We will reflect on the strength we possess as women and what gets in the way of believing in ourselves, experience healing from the violence we have encountered, and learn how to transform our anger and interpersonal conflicts.

The turtle, an ancient symbol of women's wisdom and power, will accompany us on this journey.

Mondays, 1:30pm-3:00pm
Starts July 21
At the Alameda County Family Justice Center

See you there!

**This group has 15 open spaces. If you have a client that wants to
attend please make a referral to April Daniels, Lead Navigator, at

Upcoming Events of Interest

JOB FAIR JOB READINESS EVENT - June 28th from 10am to 2pm.

A message from

Josie Camacho,
Director of Constituent Services,
Office of Mayor Dellums

Dear Family Justice Center,

On behalf of Mayor Dellums, we would like to invite you to participate in our "Job Fair and Job Readiness Event" on Saturday, June 28th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. It will be held at St. Anthony's Elementary School Gym located at 1535 - 16th Ave. on the corner of Foothill Blvd. in Oakland.

Central to Mayor Dellums' concept of Oakland as the model city is developing partnerships that bring living wage employment to Oakland residents and, at the same time, address public safety. This exciting collaboration brings together our many partners who are aggressively striving to build a vibrant community across multi-generational lines, reaching out to many residents and giving them the opportunity to transform their lives in positive ways.

As we look ahead to 2008 and beyond, we all recognize that this is a special moment in our city; and the only way to turn the corner of change is by working together. We are confident that the foundation we've secured will allow us to provide a greater number of quality jobs for our residents, and simultaneously address the many root causes of crime and violence in our city.

Attached is our Job Fair Job Readiness flyer and form for you to fill out and fax back to 510-238-4731 to my attention. We can provide several tables for the ACFJC service providers that wish to participate. I will be reaching out to you next week. Please don't hesitate to call me at 238-7072 or 207-2834 (cell).

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Josie Camacho

You can download the Job Readiness flyer
