October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

OAKLAND -- The Alameda County Family Justice Center (ACFJC) stands alongside our partner agencies, the DA's Office Victim-Witness Assistance Division as well as with statewide and national organizations, in acknowledging October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The broad aims of the month is to educate, inform and end domestic violence in our communities. We mourn those who have died, celebrate those who survived, and connect those who work to end violence.

Read more about the activities and events both the ACFJC and our affiliated partners are holding for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

On October 28, 2011, the ACFJC is holding A Day of Remembrance on the plaza of the Alameda County Administration Building at 1221 Oak Street in Oakland. The event begins with the launch of an art exhibition at 11:30, followed by the official ceremony from 12:15 until 1:15pm. The event will include the Reading of Names with a bell ringing ceremony, and the personal stories of survivors of domestic violence.
