OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH

DVAM evolved from the "Day of Unity" held in October 1981 and conceived by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect advocates across the nation who were working to end violence against women and their children. Here at the Alameda County Family Justice Center (ACFJC) we honor DVAM with many activities to support victims and service providers. A calendar of events is below, or you can download a pdf.

DVAM culminates with our Day of Remembrance, a formal program to honor those killed in an act of domestic violence, to be held on Friday, October 27th. The event includes a children's art exhibit, speakers, and the reading of names. The event is held at the Alameda County Administration Building Plaza, 1221 Oak Street, Oakland, CA. Resource tables open at 11:30am and the formal program is from 12:15pm-1:15pm. There is no cost. For more information please call (510) 267-8842 or email the Family Justice Center at info@acfjc.org. We look forward to seeing you at one of these many events.
